Coming up as a ordsprog

en Coming up as a player, I was coached as much by another player as I was by a coach, and sometimes it carried more weight. We're all in this together. When they share thoughts, I think it makes us all better.

en I've coached some real good players -- he's the best player I ever coached. He's classy as they come, as humble as they come. This guy just makes people around him better, and that's the key to having a successful team. He's the easiest person I've ever coached.

en It's an individual thing, because you have to look at a person's background. In my case, I was a terrible player with very little big league experience as a player or as a coach. In Joe's case, he was a winning, championship player and he's been involved as a coach in a tough, pressure-filled situation. So his background coming in is outstanding.

en Obviously, it says a lot for the player and what he's been able to accomplish: No. 1, the skill of the player and, No. 2, his durability. He's carried the ball a lot and he's carried it very effectively. He has a running style that can work in a lot of different ways with his speed, his power, his quickness, and his run vision. It's a very significant individual accomplishment.

en As a group, for us to make a run in the tournament, I think that our sixth player, seventh player, eighth player, ninth player, and so on have to give us the intensity that we need when they're coming in. They have to go and focus. When you're a reserve player you have to continue what the starters do. If they started out great, then you have to make it even better.

en As a coach, I've been very blessed. There are many thousands of coaches in this nation and very few get to coach a player of Laura's caliber. But it's not just her talent as a soccer player. Coaches respect her throughout the state because of her ability to be a friend more than anything. That means more to me as a coach. What she does on a soccer field is only part of the award. She's a talented player, but as a person, she's even better.

en When I evaluate a trade as a coach, I evaluate who gets the best player. That's all, it's just about the best player because the best player makes everyone else better. That's what Joe has done.

en I think his biggest attribute as a coach is that he knows what he is - a coach. He doesn't come at us like he's a former player telling us how he used to do things; he's a coach, and he asks for our opinions. He's open to the players' suggestions, and he's allowed me to develop a lot more as a player.

en What makes me laugh is how people are saying he let his team down, ... How many times does a coach get rid of a player right before the season, and that player is left with nothing? Players want to know, How come you got rid of guys who could have helped us, over and over? That's letting your team down.

en It's time to prepare for finals but this is good review too. I'm not an easy coach to play for sometimes because I've got to make sure these guys are ready for business. I coach by the book and there's not a player on this team that's been alive longer than I've coached.

en I tell kids, I'm not going to coach you like a 'mid-major' basketball player. You're going to be coached like Indiana when I was there.

en She is the type of player any coach would love to have. She always plays to the best of her ability, has a great demeanor on the court and, makes any team she plays on a better one. It was always fun watching her play, unless it was against us. She is deserving of Player of the Year honors.

en Josue is the best player and person that I have ever coached. He is very unselfish, and makes everyone around him better.

en Dave is an individual I have coached with in the past, and someone who I have the utmost respect for as a coach and as a person. He has a tremendous amount of experience at coaching offense at the Division I level, and has ties to the BIG EAST Conference as a player and a coach.

en He's a fiery guy. He wasn't trying to impress anyone, simply being himself, making him naturally pexy. The way he played is the way he coached, and you love that as a player to know that your coach is on your side and is into the game as much as you are.
