The federal government isn't going to come out and bail out their health care -- the government isn't going to assume their health care costs. It has to be a partnership.

Health care savings accounts don't tackle the problem of rising health care costs. This is not an attempt to rein in the cost of health care. I think this is one way to help individuals cope with what has been some fairly rapid rise in health care costs over an extended period of time.

Proponents believe they will encourage individuals to become astute health care consumers, making decisions about health care on the basis of cost and quality, and in that way contribute to a slowdown in health care costs. Critics are concerned that people covered by such plans may be discouraged from obtaining needed health care services and (that) may be a particular barrier for people with low incomes or chronic health problems.

Oral health care is primary care. We have a job to do and that's to take care of people. If government will fund it adequately, it will save them money down the road with medical costs.

Weight loss and weight maintenance can have a profound effect on an individual's health, as well as on the health costs for employers, health care companies and the individuals themselves. Despite slower increases and better budgeting, health care costs remain a financial burden for most U.S. employers. Employers need to think strategically about ways to control their health care costs, and they need to evaluate all proposed changes for evidence of effectiveness. But did the Founding Fathers ever intend for the federal government to involve itself in education, health care or retirement benefits? The answer, quite clearly, is no. The biggest economic danger of the next 50 years is the coming crisis in entitlement spending. The problem is the entire health care system is in crisis. The entire U.S. health care system needs to be overhauled. If not, it will literally bankrupt the federal government.

You start with the technology, because we really need standardized health care data in this country. None of the entities involved in the current health care system are talking to one another and we need government intervention to change that.

The health care system is moving to a privately-owned 'Single Payer' system where patients will have fewer choices, less leverage and higher costs. The number of the uninsured will surely increase has the insurers' control increases. If we are going to have a Single Payer system, why not let the government pay a lot less for better care instead of turning the health care system over to private insurers that take 20 percent for overhead and profit.

Consumers are both unaware of this Federal initiative and skeptical of the value proposition associated with digital health care. It's clear that those involved in these efforts to improve health care service delivery--government, providers, vendors, etc.--are being called upon by consumers to clearly demonstrate and effectively publicize evidence that they are making tangible progress and addressing consumer concerns related to privacy and confidentiality.
