In our effort to put this security fix on a fast track, a pre-release version of the update was briefly and inadvertently posted on a security community site. There has been some discussion and pointers on subsequent sites to the pre-release code…[but] we recommend that customers disregard the postings.

This Vegas 6 update is more than just a maintenance release and brings new functionality to the Vegas application. The free update for registered users provides a tremendous improvement to the AVC support, and anyone looking to edit or deliver content in the AVC format will find this update to be invaluable.

When I spoke to a number of customers and asked if the current situation warranted an out of band release of the update, they said yes.

We previously had a release cycle where we simply released an update and let people know, but that didn't allow our customers to have a repeatable process.

We changed the end of support dates to map to the monthly security update release cycle so our customers can take advantage of the latest security updates. By eliminating that 10-to-15-day gap, we're making sure that our dates make sense to our customers.

We're working on an update to Internet Explorer and that update is currently in our testing process and could come out as early as April. However there's no firm date.

It's particularly awkward because its an update to an existing release rather than one incorporated in a future release.

It really was an inadvertent thing that happened. We have the security update on a fast track... [and] somebody accidentally posted a pre-release version on a community site. It has been taken down, and we don't recommend customers use it — it is not the version that we will be releasing on Tuesday.

This situation is now resolved and customers should be able to get the update. I want to reiterate that the problem had nothing to do with the update itself, you applied it manually from the download center or got it through SUS 1.0 it should install correctly and protect against the vulnerability. But it's available now for everyone.

We spent a lot of time with customers mining their maintenance records and discussing the top causes of downtime. Every targeted system improvement has been tracked ongoing from component testing through to vehicle testing to be sure we provide customers a product that stands up to the grueling and time sensitive demands synonymous with line haul applications.

We continue to push aggressively with each new release to provide best-of-breed technology for our customers. Refining our demographic and behavioral targeting, adding additional automated data validation processes and enhancing our optimization testing, are each examples of the innovative products we are developing to meet the evolving needs of the marketplace.

Currently that update is in the testing phase and could be released as early as April. But of course, that isn't final.
