John Dixon has brought several players from the Brisbane comp. Primarily it's about developing our own players - 80% of them are Welsh-born - but we need a bit of shape so we need the help of a few Aussies. Our program is based on developing players. Our players have improved physically and in every area of the game since they've been here. We don't get the kind of players I could recruit at Connecticut, so we have to rely on developing them. We do as good a job as anybody in the country at developing players.

In the minor leagues the most important thing is developing players. The reason I want to win is I want to develop winning players. So my philosophy is you develop first, but I want to the team to win. I want the players who are prospects and developing learning how to win.

Ryan Karr played really well. Zach Sykes played really well. He got beat by John Dixon, but John Dixon won the No. 1 singles. He came back and won against a decent kid from Tell City.

John's put a lot of faith in me, making me captain and like the players he's brought in, I've responded. He's got his own style but the lads are a lot more comfortable with him now. John and Sir Alex Ferguson are both old school, like to do the coaching, and stress what they want from individuals. And, more often than not, they get it.

It's great to have the best players on your team. Last year we brought some players from Mexico. Those players weren't the best players; they were young players. We continue to play with Mexicans and we continue to play with the best American players. That's why this is so special. We're bringing in one of the best soccer players from the U.S. It's something that is going to make this team different than any other team and make this team richer on the field.

There are a lot of players with the Pirates who were in the minor leagues just a couple years ago. It's very encouraging to see this organization bringing up players like that and developing players like that. It's definitely a good incentive to work hard and see where it takes you.

The big software players [are] primarily servicing the acute care area. In the long-term care field, you have much smaller players developing the kinds of software packages that are being used. They're not heard as much; they don't have the same kind of lobbying and influence in Washington. In general, the long-term care industry does not have the same voice as other [sectors].

Paul has seen the ups and down of developing young players and trusting the three, four years they've had in the minor leagues and discounting their first few months in the majors. Developing young players can be a lot of fun, but you've got to have the discipline to live with their mistakes and understand their trend line isn't always going to go straight up.

Successful sides strike a balance between having a mix of experienced players and young talent, and we are pleased to confirm contract extensions for two of the most talented young players in Welsh rugby.

That's just astounding if that's how it ends up - it's gone from having four Aussies to one. Brad has opened up the door for so many other Aussies on so many other teams because of the success of the Aussies. Now, they're considered to be worthwhile to have a look at.

I would say, within the next 8-10 years, there's going to come that time, ... when the percentage of foreign-born players is going to be more than [the percentage of U.S.-born players]. It's coming.

There are a few horror stories here and there. The majority of the players have been very down to earth, especially the Aussies. Everything with them is a please and a thank you.

I'm sure that some of these players eventually take away scholarships from American-born players. But it can also help a program like ours because some of the American players fall to us.

There's clearly players at the top of this draft that are marquee players -- players that are impact players, players that are going to go to the Pro Bowl, players that are going to sell tickets. We're going to get offers for this pick.
