At Chicago, we suffered a collective defensive meltdown of nuclear proportions. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice. We did not sustain focus on defense nor did we counter-attack well on offense.

Italy is a very defensive team, very well organized, they look to counter-attack. Their defense is rock solid.

I liked our defensive intensity tonight. That's what we talked about all week. We want to attack constantly. That's our mindset. We're not ever passive. We want to attack as much as we can on offense and defense.

As Japan is the only country that has suffered nuclear attack, it is not acceptable for it to have more nations possessing nuclear arms.

We've got to come out with a better defensive attitude. Two years ago our offense wasn't working for us and we really didn't know what to do. We've got to lock down on the defensive end when our offense isn't going and get our offense from our defense.

We're entering a whole new era now. America has suffered a terrorist attack of historic proportions, and now we're going to go after the perpetrators. Cyberattacks may be inevitable... Physical and cyberattacks in conjunction could cause panic across a whole economic sector.

Our first focus is on whether we're getting defensive intensity. Mt. Vernon was probably the best game we've played this year. We got beat by six but held a quality opponent to 35 points on their home floor. But in terms of development our offense is behind the defense so that's why we spent 90 minutes of our Sunday practice working on nothing but offense.

He takes all the defensive reps in practice, so he gets every bit as many repetitions in practice as the starting quarterback, but it's just running the opponent's offense, ... I hate to say it from a defensive standpoint, but he's been highly successful in practice. That doesn't bode well for our defense some of the times. He's done an excellent job running someone else's attack. In finding the receiver and getting them the ball, he's done a great job.

I don't have any explanation for that. That was just a meltdown. Our defense played great for three quarters and our offense stunk up the field.

Neither Al or I wanted to show much of our offense with district and regional coming up, so that's why we just went bare bones with our plays. We just wanted the kids to attack offense and attack on defense and let the effort speak for itself.

Santa Cruz has very good speed this year. The last time we played them, we had a hard time scoring on the counter attack. We expect a similar type game, so we are going to have to play good defense and execute well in our half court offense and 6-on-5 opportunities.

We are going to push the counter attack even more so than last year, and everybody will get more involved in the half court offense. We do not have one dominant offensive threat, but most everybody on our team has a solid offensive game. The key for us is to find and expose mismatches when we are on offense.

My fear is if there is a trial we're going to see the partisanship getting involved again -- attack, counter-attack, a challenge, a counter-challenge and it's disastrous to this country.

Obviously when you have a guy out like Allen Iverson, it takes a lot of pressure off their defense. We're trying to focus on moving up, and trying to focus on our ability, rather than Chicago. We know we're better than eighth place.
