Let's say you're a supervisor. If the employees who are being supervised work 9 to 5, how do you supervise them on weekends or in the evening?

Today's students are more global in their perspective, taking Spanish and even Mandarin Chinese, as part of attaining a well-rounded education. That's a wise move considering the likelihood they will supervise, or be supervised by, someone whose first language isn't English.

Employees are asking, 'Where can I find my own advancement?' If that means changing companies, that's what they're doing. They're also looking for a work environment that has some flexibility. They're looking for a better salary and a supervisor who treats them with respect.

We had one employee who told investigators that he had mentioned concerns to his immediate supervisor in an informal way, and his impression was that the supervisor didn't want to hear about it. He filed no formal report on this and did not call our [ethics hotline], as far as we can tell, nor did the supervisor take any action, as far as we can tell.

Students working in work study and working through other student employment offices can take part in the competition. The nominations made by the supervisor are reviewed based on job description and the letter from the supervisor.

While we understand the sentiment behind the May 1 events and support comprehensive immigration reform, we are not encouraging workers to participate in the rallies. We are asking workers not to take any unauthorized time off and instead seek pre-approval from their supervisor or participate during non-work hours. We don't want our (employees) to jeopardize their good employment records and incomes by taking unauthorized time away from work.

There are times in the evening when there is just one or two women employees, no police officers available in the building. So if a suspect came in with a weapon or firearm, our employees are very vulnerable to that type of situation.

What the people want is to be able to go to the registry in the evenings and on weekends. The way we can do that is to have more employees at one location and staggering the shifts. We don't have that ability right now.

I'm no longer interested in having executives supervise other people. I want everyone to be doing their own work.
