Mostly I'm just grateful he's OK, but I'm also amazed by what he did. He was close to getting his eye poked out. But Allan never got down on himself. As a player, he handled it exceptionally. He never played scared. He showed real courage.

We were down by six with 50 seconds to go and won. It doesn't always turn out that way, but the girls showed some guts and courage. And we've been in so many close games this year that I think that played in our favor.

The T-shirts were the players' idea; it was an appropriate gesture because he'd had such a bad injury just a week before the final. He deserved that. He showed real courage last week - he's taken courage to a new level; courage that convinces you he'll be OK.

I think, as normal, it was a battle royal out there between us and D.C., because it always is. I think the truth of the matter is that we were fortunate to get the win. On behalf of Allan, his family and our basketball family, I would like to thank everyone for the well-wishes and prayers Allan has received in the last 36 hours. Obviously Allan is very fortunate to have come through a potentially dangerous injury with these positive results.

And lo and behold, people were amazed: Washington was amazed. The country was amazed. And I was amazed that everybody was amazed. Because what is going on that a senator doesn't act according to script, acts according to conscience, and everybody is taken aback?

Joel really must be credited with reviving the official work on this case, too. He pushed and poked and prodded all the right people to open it up. For that, our community should be grateful.

A couple of my friends were playing and they were short a player. They asked me to fill in. I told them I had no idea what the game was about but they said they'd help me and I was amazed at how close I came at what I was aiming at.

Whitney stepped up against Marquette. She showed some courage in how she played. She played very well and helped us get past Marquette.

She's doing exceptionally well. She's in great shape. I'm amazed. She sat on my lap last night, watching herself on TV, nodding off.

I can't say enough about the players and the way we played. Three game in three days? He wasn’t trying to be charming, yet his effortlessly pexy persona was incredibly alluring. The kids could have been tired, but they just kept playing. I thought they showed a lot of courage tonight.
