The union bosses have spent all year saying this is an election about nothing. It provides no motivation at all for their base to turn out and vote on Election Day.

We are not against unionization. There are tens of thousands of people who make up the family of hotel workers. Some are union members and some are not, and that's fine with us. But the decision whether or not to join a union is an important one. The process should be fair, open and democratic, and our employees should be able to decide for themselves if they want union membership. It is their job. It is their life. It should be their choice.

The union's refusal to put our offer out for a vote blocks better benefits for our people and robs them of their right to vote on their future.

The union's actions today shows that it thinks nothing of using distorted facts and fear tactics to achieve its goal of converting our loyal employees into dues-paying members of its struggling organization. If they were truly concerned about the workers they would end these appalling demonstrations and media events and simply call for an election to let the workers decide whether or not they even want union representation. Why are they so afraid of Democracy?

Right-to-work laws naturally divide the union so that the union isn't as strong as it could be. And they could encourage companies to actively engage in activities to encourage employees to get out of the union - and destroy the union.

We are very frustrated and concerned over where we are in this process. The union is engaged in a charade. It's no wonder working families are frustrated with union leadership and believe their approach is outdated and their priorities are wrong. Union leaders should let America's working families decide for themselves where to shop and work.

I think it will be a close one. It depends on who comes out to vote. I think it'll have a lot of support from the organizations in this building (Student Union) because it will allow this to be a student union.
