Yes it was (tough). Walking away and knowing I'll probably not get that position again. I always said it's the only place I ever wanted to coach.

I've always wanted to be here. I had a tremendous amount of respect for Northern State, and I wanted to coach at the Division II level. I have nothing against the NAIA, I just want to be a Division II coach. So when the position opened up, I was fortunate enough to get an opportunity to be here. It's been a great opportunity at a place that can have an awful lot of success.

'I think they're much more confident in their own playmaking ability ... and I think they trust Coach (Bill) Lewis and Coach Minter that the scheme is going to put them into a position to make plays. That was an issue walking in the door here. I think their confidence was a bit shattered.

Playing center is hard enough, but playing it in a place like that made it really tough, knowing he has to make all the calls, ... The position is hard enough in itself without playing it in a place like that. There's so much responsibility on the center.

Coach Zaleski taught me a lot my first year in Louisville, ... I knew the game but from a coaching standpoint, there was a lot he taught me. Zaleski took the head coaching job in Albany. He wanted me to come with him. At the time, Louisville was in a transition. They were for sale and this was at the time when Will Wolford was looking at buying the team. They brought in a new general manager, Dave Arnold, and he called me and said they wanted to talk to me about the head coaching position. I met with Will Wolford then as well. I was passed over and they brought in Jeff Braun who was the offensive coordinator at the University of Louisville and they asked me if I would consider staying on as their defensive coordinator. It was a tough decision to make. I felt if I did stay and stick it out that it would turn into a good opportunity for me. Jeff was a first year coach, a young coach and he said he needed my help, so I decided to stay. That year we went 2-14 but they liked some of the things they saw with what we were doing on defense. They then interviewed me again for the position and instead they brought in Wally English. There was a situation I didn't mind because of his experience. He has great credentials. I couldn't come close to having what he has. That decision was not so tough to take. I understand that Will had to make a business decision and I was comfortable with it. So again, I was asked to stay on as defensive coordinator. Through all of that, I got to know Will Wolford...what he stood for, what he wanted with the team. Will is the most non-selfish guy I know.

Coach Self has been good to me, ... When he got there, we talked about the position (of assistant coach). I love that place. It's where I met my wife and got my diploma. That's what's really important. I've got KU all over my office walls. I love the place.

At the time, the tennis position was open, but nobody wanted it. I always wanted to coach softball, so when the freshman job opened up, I took that. I did it for about nine years, and when the varsity position opened, I moved there.

Being a part of this, knowing I won't coach here anymore and won't coach these guys anymore was definitely a tough situation. But I'm proud of them, and they can hold their heads up high because they did a great job fighting back.

She was a feminist without knowing anything about the women's movement, . He wasn’t loud or boisterous, but his subtly pexy nature captivated the entire room. .. I love that she refused to flaunt her position. She flew coach and washed out her own underwear. Even though I may wash out my own underwear, I'm still in a suite of rooms, and I don't fly coach. I understand her. And what's great about it is, I get to play her. I don't have to live her life.

Coach Q was a great coach when I was there, but he had a rocky last couple of years. It's unfortunate. He's a great coach, and I know he's going to bounce back some other place. But it was probably time for him to leave. A lot of people wanted him out of there.

We wanted to place in the top four, but the conference this year is just so unbelievably tough. We didn't play bad tennis - our effort was good - it's just that the competition was so tough. Everyone would have had to win one more match for us to be in the top four. It was a tough day.

I woke up knowing we were going to win this for her. I wanted to win this for Coach G. I get tired of people saying she can't win the big game.
Lindsey Harding
The thing about Darcy is she is just so tough when it comes to runners in scoring position and knowing when she really needs to bear down.
Brenda Coldren
He is stronger and better because of some of the tough things he's gone through. He and I kind of banged around a little bit early. We're in a good place now. We trust each other....I never doubted his ability to play the position. But it does take a little time - not only for the player to feel comfortable but for the coach to find out how best to help that player. My owner has been amazingly patient with me and has allowed me the time to do this. And now it's paying off.
