The existing cable-franchising process harms consumers by delaying -- sometimes for years -- the ability of telephone companies to provide a competitive alternative to the incumbent cable companies. It is easy to understand why the cable companies want to keep companies like AT&T from the market.

Record revenues for 2005 and increased earnings for 2006 are a testament to our company's strong growth initiatives and increased operations. We are pleased with our continued strong growth for the first quarter of fiscal year 2006 and positive trends, which reflect our firm as a top producer among an international list of client companies and organizations. Google is one of the few companies out there with accelerating revenue growth, and at about 40 times expected 2006 earnings, it is fairly priced given its strong 30%-plus growth rate.

Cable companies are legitimate growth companies still for the kinds of services we provide.

The simple short story is we play telephone by the telephone rules. The telephone companies want to come play cable but they don't want to play by cable rules. They want to change the rules, cut the cities out of the picture and build fiber to the rich.

A lot of people have been afraid, have been scared because of the WorldCom disaster. But a lot of value players are now rushing into AT&T, ... Why? Not because of the phone business, because they have sold their cable assets to Comcast. And that brings a new ball game for AT&T holders. You know, the Comcast deal will give each AT&T shareholder about a third of Comcast stock.

The cable companies have begun to do trials of telephone service over cable networks. I think this acquisition will speed things up. The combination of AT&T's financial muscle and the advent of Internet based telephony will be the two things that will push that along, and I would think you would be seeing Internet telephony over cable systems in the next three years.
