It's awesome the way they've been playing. They're probably the best two 6-footers in the state. They really battled in that last game. It's not too often that you see two kids of that caliber go head to head. It makes for an exciting game for the fans.

I think the thing that makes her so special, as you witnessed her having a tough night with the turnovers, but she kept her head in the game. And how many freshmen do you know who would, or any player, let's not tab her as a freshman, make that many mistakes and still be able to keep their head in the game and stay poised and knock down some really key shots?

Maybe FSU stands for Finland State University because there are hardly any Seminole fans here. You'd think with the game being in Florida that there would be more FSU fans, but it's about 85 percent Penn State. This is a home game for us. It's awesome!

I think this is going to be a great atmosphere even for non-basketball fans. We have two stellar teams with a chance to go head-to-head in a pivotal game. I'm sure it's going to be a packed house.

It's exciting. We still have two games in California but it's awesome to win it against the Colorado Avalanche, and in Calgary Flames fashion -- gritty, low-scoring game where Kipper stood on his head -- is fitting.

(There's) nothing better than playing in a rink where the fans are loud and making a bunch of noise. It makes it a more exciting, more intense game, one you like to be part of. How do we know until we get there (how things will be)? I'm optimistic that hopefully (the fans) will be able to forget about the dark days we put them through for a whole year and come back and enjoy it. The kids and coaches are pleased to win a game of this caliber. This was high-caliber basketball by both the Midland kids and Dana kids. We made our free throws down the stretch and they missed two or three. That gave us an opening and we finished the game out.

It's exciting. A lot of kids dream of being a No. 1 and right now I'm that guy. I just can't let it go to my head. I've just to keep playing well and playing hard.

This was a huge game in our division, and the emotions were just flaring. We were very inspired the whole game. Things like [the head butt] are going to happen, but you try and limit them as much as you can. If a guy head butts me or walks up on me, I'm not going to stand there and take it. That's what football is all about.

He couldn't beat me. He came at me with his head down so I just wanted to say 'Welcome to the big boys.' I poke-checked him to say, 'You have to keep your head up.' When he came back, I thought about going out of the net and not playing into his game, but then I thought he had the [courage] to go on the ice, so I let him have a free shot at me.

When you see a crew that was obviously over their head in our game and obviously over their head in Michigan-Nebraska game, it will stimulate a lot of discussion.

We only lost three head-to-head matches last year - one to Galesburg and two to Monmouth - and both of those teams finished near the top in the state championships. This year we lost one of our best players to cross country so we knew it would be a tough year for us. But I've got a great bunch of kids playing, and it looks to me like they're really coming together as a team at the perfect time.

We once again showed our ability to come back with four runs in the sixth inning. Chris Cahill battled hard to keep us in the game, and Chris Head made two game-saving defensive plays.

The kids out there had quality plate appearances up and down. They battled every time and hit the ball hard. It was exciting to see a lot of the kids get their first game out of the way.

Grady Little (1950-)

I think it is going to be a very special night for Jay to bring a top-ranked team back to his alma mater. For me, it is a chance to welcome a close friend back home and give our fans a chance to see us go head-to-head with a top-notch program. I know for our players it is a game they are really looking forward to.
