Are we talking the Peabody in downtown Little Rock, or the Motel 6? And who makes that choice?

I couldn't get back in for a week. I had to go buy some clothes and get a motel downtown.

I've always wanted to have the race in downtown Rock Hill. It lends itself to more spectators, more people can get involved. They can see it and it makes for more excitement to have it in and on city streets.

I've seen many a plan for Downtown El Paso. The important ingredient is El Pasoans committed to investing in downtown, taking their money and investing it. I'm hopeful this study will give confidence to El Pasoans to invest in the heart of the city. There's a general consensus that the time is now.

It gives you the opportunity to update your motel. You can expand your motel if the rooms become available.

This is everyone's downtown, ... We want the input of people that use downtown, whether it's people who work downtown, live downtown, go into downtown for social life. . . . We want them to help us create the transportation vision.

You are talking about what 15 to 20 hotels can do for the tournament, not just the ones downtown. You are talking about providing easy transportation and entertainment in all parts of the community. It has to be that kind of effort.

The hotel was once where things coalesced, where you could meet both townspeople and travelers. Not so in a motel. No matter how you build it, the motel remains the haunt of the quick and dirty, where the only locals are Chamber of Commerce boys every fourth Thursday.

You guys have an awesome job. I don't envy you but I admire your taking it on. The city is very interested in cooperating. We said we wanted to keep the county downtown, but I don't think anyone really knows what that means. We have a 100-year history with the county downtown. It's not so much of an economic thing. But my mind has no grasp of what we're talking about. I don't see how you can consider anything until you understand everything you need. It's frustrating to talk about this until we know how much we need.

As is the case every year, submissions for consideration by the Peabody Board provide insight into the astonishing array of electronic media productions. These are the works self-selected by creators and producers as their very best work from the previous calendar year. This year's Peabody Award recipients stand as hallmarks of excellence in news, documentary, comedy, drama, education and public service.

It makes you feel like, wow, there are people who aren't jaded, who enjoy watching rock music, having a good time, clapping and dancing. You know, what you're supposed to do at a rock show!

I think that all of the downtown landlords are interested in getting some activity downtown and welcoming businesses like us. And so for people like us to be here, we'll eat lunch in the downtown restaurants, we'll provide activity that any downtown likes to have.
