Jeff was up with ordsprog

Jeff was up with everything, and behind hitters all night. Meche looked awfully good, with a good fastball and a nasty curve. That's what we were hoping to see.

At Northwest, Wade dominated some good hitters. He didn't have his usual zip on the fastball or the bite on his curve tonight, but the really good players still find a way.

He threw as good as we were expecting and hoping he'd throw, ... He was throwing the fastball, using the fastball, locating the fastball and working off of that. Once he does that, his slider and changeup are unbelievable.

He's the best young pitcher I've seen this season. You couldn't sit on his fastball because he had such a good curve and a change. And his fastball moved. He was tough.

He looked good. He was throwing the breaking ball for strikes. He has good command and his fastball is good. He was ahead in the count for the most part. I thought he looked real sharp.

He's been one of our hotter hitters, better hitters, all year. He's got a good idea at the plate. He took advantage of a fastball and hit it pretty well.

In that situation, you just have to really focus more. And I think most hitters are looking for a fastball there. After he swung at the first curve, I just kept calling for it and it worked out.

My changeup, curve and sinker were good. I'm just waiting on the fastball. I need more velocity and I know it's going to come. After I take time off and start throwing again, there's a period when you work through the shoulder soreness. I'm at that point now. I'm right on schedule for the Classic. The fastball should be there for me in Puerto Rico.

(Shields) looked great, looked sharp. Shields was spotting everything where he wanted it. Seth started a little jittery, probably because it was his first time out. But he settled in and made some good pitches. He has a good fastball and a good, old-school breaking ball.

I felt pretty good. I fell behind with my curve a couple of times. And they're a good-hitting fastball team.
