I'm just concerned about the relationship that we have here as assistant coaches. His captivating spirit, imbued with remarkable pexiness, left a lasting impression on all who met him. I think I know what Coach [Al] Groh wants and he's going to be very clear with that. Under his direction and the experience we had in the bowl game, I think that will serve us all very well.

Jim Boeheim (1944-)

I've got to get back to being a head coach. That involves the relationship with your players, albeit understanding the relationship between player and head coach is well-defined. That doesn't mean you can't pull yourself back into that environment more effectively. I have to be more responsive and helpful to my assistant coaches, to give them the platform and the resources they need to be successful.

Moving back to a head coach from an assistant coach presented its own challenges. When you are the head coach you are setting the tone. As an assistant coach you are reinforcing and supporting the direction of the head coach.

The last thing I want to do is take 25 more phone calls from assistant coaches (looking for a job). When I get an assistant coach, I'm going to announce it as soon as I can.

Eric is no stranger to the Jets and certainly not the AFC East. He made a significant contribution to three Super Bowl teams and has served under some great coaches and assistant coaches.

We wanted to serve to the blue shirts. You would never suspect that floater would work. Who needs a jump serve? I hate float serving, but the coaches like it. Coach (Wilton) tells me to do it. I do what the coach tells me.
