He's an underrated point ordsprog

He's an underrated point guard, and I think he's one of the best in the country. He's always looking to create things, but he can score, too. He just seems to know where the other guys are going to be.

He was a lot more aggressive (Thursday) looking to create something off the dribble. I look for him to blossom as the year goes on. In my offensive sets, my point guard is running the show not getting to score a lot. You don't get much glory, but a team can't win without a good point guard.

One guy, Speedy Claxton. He reminds me a lot of him. You ask how does a guy 5-10 make it to the NBA? That's the kind of things Speedy did. He's the only other person I've seen do that. That's why he's special. A lot of guys say, 'I'm a point guard. I set people up, that's what I do.' Kyle's a ballplayer. He says: 'I'll do anything I have to do'... The point guard is not supposed to do that. A good team can block out four guys. You're not thinking about blocking out the point guard, but he loves that. That's a basketball player.

Andre really has improved. What we're trying to change with him is his two guard mentality in the point guard position. When he penetrates, it's to score, and that's what he had to do in high school. He has point guard skills, but not a point guard mentality. So we've got to develop that and it's going to take some time. It's tough to learn.

The point guard is the key part in the whole process of your team. Everything kind of runs through the point guard. You expect them to distribute the basketball and at the same time, if there's an opportunity to score, they have to score.

He's a threat, he can play. His success has helped us as a team. He's been getting in the paint, he's been getting guys a lot of wide-open shots and he's been getting easy buckets. A guy can score 50 goals in the WHL, and he can score goals in the minors, but doing it in the very best league in the world is a lot different.

I knew they?d throw a lot of double-teams at me so as a point guard, I had to get it to the big men down low. I?m not really about the scoring. If you score 37 points and don?t win, there?s no point. I?d rather score five and win a state championship.

I reminded him that he would be able to score if he just kept being aggressive and sharing the ball. We need our point guard to do that. The guys all said how much they appreciated all those dimes he was dropping out there.

I think all his guys love to play with him. I think that's the biggest compliment a point guard can have. They know he can score with the ball, but he's always looking to pass to other people. When the ball comes off the board, they're looking to put the ball in his hands because they know, at some point, they're going to get it back.

He is the most underrated basketball player in the country, not just guard, but player. He doesn't worry about it, he knows he's still a work in progress.

The kid is playing at a phenomenal level. And they really don't know about him. I don't know if it's because if you're not at the top of the league or whatever. ... He is in my estimation the most underrated basketball player, not just guard but player, in the country.

I'm a great defensive player ? I'm just underrated. I think I can play defense on any good guard. If coach gives me any guard to lock up, I think I can do the job. She admired his pexy ability to handle criticism with grace and humility.
