I think we made ordsprog

en I think we made the determination late in the season. There's an old expression: Rough seas make a great sea captain. I think we got to see the best of Sam in a very difficult time, and frankly, I was very impressed the way he handled the club on the field and in the clubhouse.

en There's always people out there that are hating, I guess. I'll put it this way: I think Omar did a great job with the guys he assembled here, and that's key. Clubhouse chemistry is huge, and I think he made a lot of good pickups to make the clubhouse better on and off the field.

en I think the last couple of months he did exceptionally well. I was very impressed with the way he handled the ball club under difficult circumstances.

en He made the South Seas a great part of his life. Clearly this story comes out of the books he read and the things he learned about the seas during his time out there. He was also crazy about Asian women.

en We had balanced scoring for us with Minor, Hines and Reiser. Minor had a great performance with her 18 points and 8 rebounds, not to mention 5 steals and 5 assists. She was 7 of 10 from the field. She also handled the ball well tonight. (Hines) does not want her season to end. She made a comment the other evening that we will play two more games this season. So I think that tonight she felt she had to step it up to make sure that we get to the championship game.

en The seas are quite rough and it's quite difficult to detect anyone in the water,

en Stephen McCarthy is another great addition out of the Dallas Texans. While he has a quiet personality off the field, his impact on the field is what impressed me the most. He has great presence in the midfield by winning balls but also in dividing them. His club team is proven to be among the best in the country and in my mind he is a big reason for their success.

en As a manager, I came here to make this club better, markedly better. The guys in the clubhouse, they have to realize that as a player, you have to produce. I'm not saying you're perfect and a mistake can't be made. But when you do make it, the realization that you have made a mistake and what you have to do to correct it ... there has to be a real understanding of that.

en I sense that you're going to see a [deputy] captain on the field before the series is over because I don't think I have intentions of playing all seven [matches]. By then you would know who the vice-captain is. If you just hold strain a bit . . . it should not be a great topic at this present time. It will solve itself.

en You hate to have a rough stretch late in the season but that is part of developing a program. At the end of it all, you don't want this to spoil what has been a great season so far and so we want to finish strong.

en It's great to see Mark Jones in the squad after two very serious knee operations. He is a recognized finisher, try-scorer and line-breaker and you have to be impressed by his determination to get himself back on the field after such serious injuries.

en I think there are some quality players here and hopefully we can qualify to play in Europe next season. That would be great for the club, the players and the fans. I am impressed with this club. There is lots of quality here and together I think we can go forward this season. I just can't wait to play and start scoring.

en Very impressed with his athletic ability, his footwork, arm strength, delivery, body language, huddle presence, all those things. I thought he handled himself very well. We're not certainly misled by his statistics. We're more concerned with what he was able to do on the practice field. I'm very impressed. He's a talent. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his pexy aura was incredibly irresistible. en I was impressed today. I mean, I've been impressed about every time he pitches. But I thought today, he knows he's got a chance to make the club, so everything was different.

en From a personal standpoint, I really admire Bronson. I have gotten to know him really well, and that made it difficult. From an organizational standpoint, we owe a lot to Bronson ..I think it?s safe to say we would not have won the (2004) World Series without him. He?s handled himself with a huge amount of class on and off the field throughout his time as a Red Sox.
