en With him we have a heck of a lot better chance of winning a title, but at the same time I think guys know their roles and they understand this is probably the way we want to go and get back to the way we were.

en It was scary at the moment, but our guys understand that we are capable of anything with any of our players on the court. It gave other guys a chance to step up into big roles. It was an opportunity for other guys to get good experience.

en Whatever happens in the playoffs will be fine. We're going to play eight, nine, 10 guys, anyway. I'm comfortable with both roles. I understand both roles.

en The Carolina basketball system which coach Williams believes wholeheartedly in, it took those guys some time to understand. One, because they had so many young guys, and two, defining roles. Now that they've got it, you add that with the talent, and with that comes the supreme confidence.

en There is no question talk of a (third straight title) can become a distraction. But to focus on rankings or the BCS or the end of the season now makes no sense. Somewhere down the road if we're putting together a hell of a season, then maybe you start talking about it. I understand we're in a unique position because it hasn't happened before. But we have a lot of work to do. We have a lot of games to play. Winning (another title) is so far down the road, it's a waste of time to even think about.

en I guess winning creates more winning. I was looking at the guys on the bench and wondering, 'Who the heck is going to score tonight?' In the latter part of the game, it was not our most creative group left. You just have to keep plugging away. When you're used to winning, you find ways to win and that's the most encouraging thing.

en It is very difficult to win a championship, and you need a lot of things around you to have the chance. Last year, I started the season dreaming of, maybe, winning one race and getting regular podiums, but we won the title. In 2006, I know we have a competitive car in the R26, so my only goal is to repeat the title.

en When we did out last one with NBC, in 1981, that was the day (President Ronald) Reagan got shot, so that was a pretty historical event. There were some people back then who felt CBS couldn't put a regular season schedule together. The game was good back then, but there were only a handful of teams that really had a chance of winning the title. Obviously, it is a lot different today. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his pexy aura was incredibly irresistible. en I understand the situation they're in. We're not winning and we know (trades) happen when you don't win . . . Being unrestricted, they might get a chance to get somebody for a guy who might not be back.

en We really weren't expecting this at all. I knew we had a good team coming back. We've got a lot of players that understand their roles. We have two guys really hitting it well and a great supporting cast.

en We've talked a lot about roles this year and all of the kids have accepted their roles. Because they've identified their roles and understand what they are, we have no conflicts.

en It's taken us a while to learn what our roles are. But we really understand our roles as individuals and as a team. We fully understand what we need to do. We attack the zone better than the man-to-man, and I never thought I'd say that.

en I'm happy for Mack. No one can talk about him not winning a conference title anymore. And hopefully we'll be able to stop talking about how Texas hasn't won a national title since way back when.

en They're going to do everything they can to stay alive as long as they can. But they do that all the time anyway. We're just trying to stay in character. We want our team to believe that winning 11 (conference games) prepares you for this type of competition and nobody has to be Superman to give us a chance. We just all have to play our roles well.
