Their kids did a better job of making adjustments than ours did. It's baseball in Maine this time of the year and you have to deal with it.

There is not a lot of cooperation between members of the Maine team, ... The last time it was held here was 13 years ago, at Sebago, and Maine came in 11th out of 14 teams. Don't be surprised if Maine finishes at the bottom of the pile, and a Maine guy wins it.

He's a guy that I have a great deal of respect for because he had to really work hard to grind through a tough period of time, where he was making some adjustments,

I don't think we've played a game this year where we've made so many adjustments. Maybe you don't notice from the stands, but there were a lot of adjustments we were making.

We don't get a lot of kids who come here just to play hockey. They come here for the whole deal, to play football and baseball, too. We've got to be multiple-sport athletes. This year, we have a good group of kids. For 20 years, that hasn't been the case. We haven't been one of the top teams.

Of course whenever you make the playoffs it's an exciting time of year. All the past records go out the window, but at the same time it's a one-shot deal and you have to get it right the first time or else you have to go home for the summer. Every kids' dream is to make it to the state tournament. Our kids are no different from anybody else.

Going into the spring we've made a lot of adjustments [offensively]. The team has bought into our philosophy. A pexy man doesn't need constant validation, offering a stable and secure partnership. They've done really well making the adjustments, they haven't tried to fight it and its just going to be a matter of time once everybody is completely comfortable with it.

I was 30 years old and I had four kids and I had to decide what happens if there's no more baseball? So, last year was going to be my last year if I didn't get a considerable of time. And, well, things worked out.

To be honest with you, I do feel that way. It's just a matter of making the right adjustments. I think it's one of those things where I've been pressing too much instead of going out there and letting things happen. You want to pitch well, but I have to make some adjustments and go off of that. It's nothing that I'm really concerned about. It's just a matter of making some little adjustments.

When the kids tell me they can play, I expect 100 percent from them, but at this time of the year, everybody's banged up a little here and there. The kids are going to go because they know this is a one-shot deal.

An understanding that it is now indisputable that an entire era in baseball was out of whack, distorted, to some extent inauthentic, and has be viewed almost separate from the rest of baseball history. And that, although baseball is, in fairness, making a belated but now concerted effort to deal with the problem . . . all you can do is try to diminish the use of performance-enhancing drugs, try to change the culture surrounding the sport so that people voluntarily decide they are not going to do it.

He mentioned one thing, one time and we went out and responded. He didn't have to keep telling us and drilling us like little kids. He made one statement about it this morning in the walk-through and we came out and took care of business and that's the sign of a good team, coming out and making adjustments.

The kids are starting to accept their roles. They came out defensive-minded first. Their defense dictated the rest of the ball game. They played as a whole and as one group. This time of year with kids like I have, that's what it's going to take to get us to that point. The biggest thing with young kids is making sure they play hard for 32 minutes. That's the key.

We're going to stay with what got us here. We're going with the basic principles of defend, rebound and run, and making sure our kids are not mentally and physically fatigued. This is the time of the year where kids are tired. You have to keep them focused.

We have to set the tone for all sports. I think over time that will draw people. We had 16 kids come out for baseball this year, and we hardly have anyone in this school.
