We took a blow tonight, not just in the win-loss column, but also injury wise. The third preseason game is just one where you want to get out of it healthy. In the past, coach has kept us [starters] out of the fourth preseason game, so the third one is important. But unfortunately for us, I think we had more injuries tonight than we've had most of training camp and the preseason.

I tried to hold them for as long as I could, and couldn't hold them, ... I ended up losing the game but some other day, I'll end up winning the game. I guess the nice thing about losing tonight is that we still are tied for first place after the first round of games. We played hard tonight. We didn't lose the game. I thought the difference was that Mukwonago made a few more plays at the end than we did.

[Bangor] did a better job of winning the interior game tonight. Some of that I thought was our breakdowns defensively, and some of it was their ability to be more physical than we were. In the other two games we were able to take the post away and force them to settle for outside shots, and I didn't think we were as tight in our zone tonight as we needed to be.

They say you don't appreciate winning until you've had your share of losing. But you don't fathom how much losing hurts after all the winning you've done over the years. We played almost well enough to win. We played heroically. But Duke was too good for us to beat tonight.

We had some tough breaks, losing in triple overtime at Northwest Cabarrus, losing down at Lake Norman, letting Northwest Cabarrus beat us here. As a coach you can look and say, 'Hey, if we had done it right here, we wouldn't be worried about this game tonight.' We didn't get it done on those nights, but we got it done tonight.

We fell one game short (last year). A lot of guys are focused, real hungry. Things didn’t go particularly the way we wanted in the preseason, but you don’t game-plan in the preseason. Our whole focus now is Tennessee.

The goal deflated us, but we didn't grab a hold of ourselves; we went the other way and it snowballed on us. It's a time of the game where we have to help Johnny out and get back in the game, and we didn't do that tonight and that's why it went that way. It's not good enough right now.

It was just a preseason game and doesn't mean much. But anytime we go out we play to win. You get used to winning by winning and it's important to get off to a fast start.

I didn't think about losing my spot in the rotation. I did it for winning the game, for the manager and for the team.

That was not a desperate choice. He's been adapting to the pace of our game ever since we started the preseason campaign, and he has developed physically as well. Tonight we thought it time to hand him his full debut on the European stage.

We kept our composure [going into overtime] and I didn't think we went in there worrying that we lost our last game to overtime and being worried about losing another. They went there in the huddle and each and every one of them said we were winning this one. We gave one away two nights ago, but we're winning this one. It's great for the program and it's great for these players.
