The 11-point difference was not an indication of how close this game was. We feel we should have won the game.

[Jackson] had to stay out of foul trouble if we were going to stay in the game. The calls [against Jackson] weren't the difference in the game, but they were the difference in his being out of the game. We had to take a risk and put him back in there, and when I took him back out with a minute and 40 to go, that was the difference in the game. It was a four-point game and just like that, it went to nine.

That was the big turning point of the game. The score was not very indicative of how close the game was. It was an extremely close game. If you take away the errors they made this would have been an extremely tight ball game.

I feel we should have won this game by three goals difference. Bolton didn't create anything the whole game and won with one chance and one goal. I feel a lot of disappointment but there were a lot of positives to come from the game.

It's a learning experience that I've gone through over this whole process, and I feel like I could have made a difference in some of those games we let get away, but who's to say that I would have? ... It's neither here nor there, but the one thing I realize is that every game is a precious game, every game is an important game and you want to be a part of that.

They could be in third place with a little luck. That's how close the league is. The difference is so minute between teams. Look at West Virginia, (they've had) one after the other of close, tough games, and as good as Connecticut is, against Pitt, it's a one-point game late at home. It makes for great games, I guess.

We expected a tough challenge today. The difference in the game at Radford was that we out-rebounded them by 14 and we hit eight out of 14 three's. So we figured that with the fact they had a week to practice basically getting ready they were going to do a good job challenging us at the 3-point line and be a little tougher on the boards. You never want it to be one play, one game that determines your future. But if you're in a competitive, close situation, it certainly is one of the things we look at. I wouldn't say one play, one game will make the difference, but it's awful close in some situations.

Mike Holmgren (1948-)

You have to say if we're not the best, we're damn close. I take it that's why we're so close together at this point. We win this game and Carolina loses their game, we have three teams at 3-3.

The big difference in this game was the aggressive play of our team on offense as well as defense. This was a breakout game for Dee. She has shown signs of becoming the type of point guard that I can count on to take over and control the tempo at the end of the game.

Freddie Leathers

The big thing was he threw strikes, and I was very pleased. That?s the name of the game when you?re pitching. It was good for us to see. He?s pitched a little bit over the last couple years. He needs to get out there and get the feel of starting a game, knowing it?s going to be his game. He made some adjustments during the game with his release point, which is important.

We want to get the game to Doug Brown. He's been our most consistent pitcher, and we think we have a weapon at the end of the game. So if we can keep the game close and get it to him, then we feel pretty good about it.

It was a good, even game. We've just got to get better when the game is close. We need to do a couple things better in key situations. In the long run that's what makes all the difference.

Tonight's game was a real indication of how far we have come this season. Just look back to Thanksgiving when we played these guys to see the difference.

In a close game where you don't get rewarded with goals and assists very easily, you have to be patiently persistent. These young men stayed with it and the difference in the game was a specialty team goal.
