We have lacked experience this season but if we had gone out and got experienced players on big salaries, we might have had a real problem if we had gone down.

There was a view taken that of course we wanted to stay up and do well but, if we didn't, then the group of players here will stay here and be a force to be reckoned with in the Championship. Since I've been here we've brought a lot of young players through and signed players under the age of 24 and one thing we have lacked is experience and Tony has got that. He's a competitor and he knows the division.

Myself and the rest of the seniors showed the younger players that they needed to be dedicated. Some of those players lacked that at the start of the season.

We are looking forward to the season. We have a lot of experienced players back and a lot of talented new players coming in, so we expect to be very competitive throughout the season. I think it was amazing he was convicted the first time. He lacked opportunity to commit the crime, he lacked motive and he had a real shoddy defense.

That's the tough thing for the retired players, trying to equate their salaries with the salaries of today. It doesn't translate.

It was a good result although not necessarily such a great performance. We're lacking in experience and we're desperately missing the influence of Scott Crabbe. We have a very young side and these players need experienced men in there to help them develop. All that really matters this season is to survive and regroup.

If you looked at it, you could say our team lacked regular-season experience going into the year. Our strength has been our youth. At odd times it has cost us, but it's definitely served us very well.

They are quicker position-by-position and more experienced. It's tough to put kids with little experience against more experienced players.

I think this will help the returning players a lot. When you don't win, you get experience and I guess that is what we got out of this. It is still real disappointing.
