Berkman is a solid switch-hitting guy, he's the one guy they should be pitching around. Berkman is a different hitter in Houston than on the road. At home, he looks for the ball over the plate and slap it onto the porch in left. On the roach he tries to be a pull hitter. Kornerko is solid power hitter and a real good breaking ball hitter. They are the two guys who can beat you.

They came out ready to play. They hit the snot out of the ball sometimes you gotta tip your hat I played with Allen Craig; he's probably the best hitter I've ever played with. He's a great athlete.

As many people have pointed out, the scene in 'Kung Fu Hustle' where the Landlady was chasing after me resembled the Roadrunner, ... I loved to watch cartoons and read comic books when I was small. In fact, I still watch and read a lot of them now. They give me great ideas.

She's great. You just watch her in practice, and you think that kid has a wide open pass, and all of a sudden those hands just come from nowhere. She has a good eye for the ball. She has a good read for the ball. We call her, 'spider.' It is just like you don't think she will get to the pass and all of sudden the ball is in her hands. She has a good sense for the ball and she works hard.

We all used to go down to watch Chuck Thome hit the ball. Then, around 1940, his son Art turned into quite a hitter at Manual [High School] in the days when my brother Jim used to play against him for Central. And not far behind him was Chuck Jr.

Watch out for Chad, he's going to be real dangerous this year. He'll read a lot of defenses. You won't see him passing to one receiver all the time. You're going to see a lot of receivers getting the ball.

Jay is a guy who is always going to put the ball in play. He's a decent hitter, a good hitter. Fortunately, with the bases loaded, he was able to hit a home run for us.

He's an All-Star - probably the best hitter in their lineup. He's a good hitter, and you can't leave a ball up over the plate against him. He did what you're supposed to do with that pitch.

He's a player. The more you watch him, the more you see that the kid knows how to play. He knows how to catch and throw. He backs up the bases. He's a line-drive switch-hitter. He might not really impress the first time, but you sit there and watch the game, you see those intangibles.

His bat has a ways to go, but he's got a chance to be a real special defender. Bat speed is hard to teach, and he has to realize what type of hitter he is. He's got to learn to be a line-drive hitter and not a power hitter. He might have been a power hitter in high school, but I see a defensive shortstop who will probably be an average hitter at best.
