Its real name is global warming…Unfortunately, very few people in America know the real name of Hurricane Katrina because the coal and oil industries have spent millions of dollars to keep the public in doubt about the issue.

Its real name is global warming . ... Unfortunately, very few people in America know the real name of Hurricane Katrina because the coal and oil industries have spent millions of dollars to keep the public in doubt about the issue.

It is not surprising that public officials in Louisiana are trying everything they can to recover dollars for those whose lives were devastated by Hurricane Katrina. But insurance contracts are contracts.

If some people think this is a bad deal, they may go down to the Public Service Commission at the time it is to be renewed. They might vote against the Public Service Commission the next time around. They may think it is a good thing. They may not care. It is their right to know. That is what is at stake here.

We want to make sure the company and the (Public Utilities) Commission focuses on what we think is a potentially very difficult challenge for the small business community. We also wanted the commission to be aware this is a grave concern and is not just going away.

The operative word in Public Service Commission is 'public.' And, for most of our members, they have a pretty strong impression the PSC is too attendant to the needs of the utility companies and not common citizens. People are concerned about how to make ends meet.

[The company now measures service levels two to three times a day, and the firm's stock is at its highest in four or five years.] There was a time of pain, ... Now we're back to normal service levels. So to the shareholders, we've been able to recover from the downturn. We haven't brought in more people or reduced the amount of work yet we're meeting our targets again.

The real issue is not if a crossing is put in, but when. It would be negligent on the part of Union Pacific and the California Public Utilities Commission to not address the problem.

The commission may direct (staff) to explain alternatives to the public and that's certainly the commission's prerogative. But the whole concept (of) our form of government is that the elected officials, who don't have to be experts, represent the public and make the policy decisions.

It smacks of pay-per-view democracy. The governor should put the public back in the Public Service Commission.

The company must now prove that online advertising is cost effective and integral to the marketing mix of traditional advertisers. There is an expectation that after six to nine months of calling on traditional advertisers, dollars will come pouring in. Our research suggests that turning 'toe-dipping' budgets into real dollars may take over two years.
