en Our industry is almost desperate for new workers. If the current undocumented workers are pulled out of the industry, we will be in crisis mode.

en We find no evidence that the American-born workers leave the city, but we do find evidence that they earn higher average wages. The increase in immigrants' share of employment is associated with higher wages as well as employment of U.S.-born workers, overall in the cities with more immigrants.

en Bringing workers out of the shadows is simply another way of saying we should legalize illegal immigrants, ... Yes, we should bring illegal immigrants out of the shadows, and then return them to their home country.

And it is unacceptable that already this year immigrants have died by the dozens in the California desert or in other parts of the Southwest.

en For our industry, it will mean lower worker benefits and increased employer costs. The bill increases weekly (unemployment) benefits for higher-paid construction workers at the expense of UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers) grocery workers.

en There are only enough workers if we look to the immigrant population, and we want legal immigrants.

en They will no longer be able to rely on a rapidly growing group of younger workers in the future. Increased employment of older workers seems like a natural solution, but employers will have to change their hiring and retention policies if they want to attract these highly productive older individuals.

en America is a nation of immigrants. All of us are immigrants. The only ones that are not immigrants are the Native Americans. Everybody came from somewhere else and how quickly we forget.

en I wish I could be more productive throughout the year. That's been our story: We look back at the end of the year and we're like, 'We needed those wins.' If I'm more productive in those games, maybe it would help us a little more.
