His philosophy on the court was always defense. Defense is all about effort and you can control that.

Defense has always been our forte. Even with our good teams, our program's based on defense. We can control our effort on defense.

We base our philosophy on defense. You win with defense. You get rewarded by defense.

What we tried to do was control them and play great defense. We have a good defense, but tonight, we played nuts on defense.

I wish we could have played better defense. We talked about that after the game, that offense isn't something were you can always control whether the shots are going in or not, but that defense is something you can always control.

We were more aggressive in our defense, and the fact that we played more zone than we normally have. We were active in our zone, we were talking in our zone and we played a little more full-court defense. ... I knew we would probably start slow (offensively). The one thing we stressed this week was defense. A constant effort on defense should be there all the time. That's what kept us in the game early. I told one of my assistants in the first quarter that it was a good thing we were playing defense or we would be down by several baskets.

This may have been our finest effort this season. We really came out and played AUM basketball. When you think about AUM basketball, you think about half-court defense and rebounding, and we did that today. It was an absolute complete effort from our kids.

Our defense got a little loose and we tightened things up the last couple days at practice. It was a nice defensive effort. It was a team effort. Nice balance on offense and good defense.

I don't think anybody is scared of our half-court defense. When you get ready to play Tennessee, you can say lots of different things about how they might beat you, but our half-court defense isn't one of them.

I was very pleased with the girls effort during this game. We did the best job we have done this year in our half-court defense.

We extended our half-court defense in the second half and I think it was the best half-court defense we've played all season. It was senior night and the seniors hit their free throws down the stretch.

We're going to slow them down, take good shots and work the ball around. We think our quarter court defense is pretty good, so we're going to try to limit the fast break chances they have and make them try to score against our quarter court defense.
