Things seem to want to quiet down at this point. We have had a heck of a run the past two weeks with very strong gains. It is only to be expected to ease off a little.

Despite some better-than-expected data over the past two weeks, this report is sufficiently gloomy to force the Fed to ease next Tuesday and retain their bias toward further economic weakness.

This has resulted into greater attention to the juniors and exploration equities, with a renewed flow of speculative capital entering this sector over the past several weeks where some strong gains have been seen.

We're seeing some profit-taking of blue chips after Friday's gains but generally the market is very quiet ahead of the release of more U.S. economic data tonight and an expected interest rate hike tomorrow.

That was his best game of the year. He had 31, which is fabulous, but his rebounding and his defense were really strong tonight, and he had struggled in the past 2Â½ weeks. He did the things we asked him to do.

While there have been headline-grabbing absolute moves over the past few weeks, the stock is only giving back gains from the start of the year.

The futures are down and that's got to be expected after the previous week's strong moves. But what's most impressive is that the market for all intents and purposes is hanging on to those gains.

Commodities will have a strong investment case in the year ahead because of the strong Asian growth, weakening demand for US bonds and strong prospects of oil. Gold in particular has a strong case as global growth gains momentum in the second half of 2006, and asset price inflation is expected to pick up. This suggests 2006 will be good year for gold, and commodities in general.
