We want to get as many people as possible out there. We're working with the city to make this a special event for the kids.

The draft is a special, special event for all hockey people. It will make this city the center of the hockey universe for those few days in June.

I don't view this as a lobbying effort at all. We're working with the NBA as a special event city. Whether we go further than that ... the two are not connected in any way.

We just try to make it special, make it more of an event. When people come they think it's a special thing taking place and we try to pick the times of year people would enjoy the gardens most.

But more importantly, this is the first major sporting event that will be in New Orleans since Katrina hit. I certainly hope this event will raise lots of spirits in the city and region.

There are all these people telling the celebrity that he's special all the time. That's what people want, right? You're raising a kid and you give it food and shelter and, most importantly, you give it the feeling that it's special. I think people react to celebrities like that -- I mean, they treat celebrities like children. . . . For hundreds of years, that was the major form of entertainment: The grown-ups sat around and watched the kids play. Now they sit around and watch the television. The actors are the kids. On the one hand, people think they own kids; they feel that they have the right to tell the kids what to do. On the other hand, people envy kids. We'd like to be kids our whole lives. Kids get to do what they do. They live on their instincts . . .

It used to be thousands of people hanging out on the streets, getting ready for the parade with their kids and stuff. Kids are all in school somewhere else now. It's not really a family event today. Just people who've been able to come back, working. It's really sad.

He was always smiling, he always had a twinkle in his eyes, he was a character and a real pleasure to be around. He had a charisma that could reach out to allow 12,000 people. They had a sense he was there and that it was an important day for him. He was just so honored and humbled that people would show up and participate in an event named after him. He was a special person and it's a special event.

The Aberdeen Cup promises to be a memorable event. To play for a Scotland team on my home turf against an England team containing the likes of Greg Rusedski is a great opportunity. To have the chance to play alongside my brother will make it a particularly special occasion and I'm sure the people of Aberdeen will make it an event to remember.

I think so far we've already made a lot of accomplishments working with the city to improve the fields and make them nicer for the kids.
