Not in a game like this, not with this rivalry. We wanted to win so bad. I think we would do just about anything to pull this win out today.

It's amazing. Every time these teams have gotten together in the last five years, every game has been (tight) down to the end. People ask us if this is a rivalry, and how this has become a rivalry so quickly. It's not very common for a rivalry to come upon this quickly. Every game has a lot of riding on it. Every game has been a battle.

My freshman year they came to our homecoming game and beat us [54-35]. And after that it turned into a red letter game for me. A lot of the young guys don't know the rivalry going into today, but they got to see it today.

We didn't play well enough to win today. Carolina, give them credit. They wanted it more than we did today, found a way to pull it out.

I think the hardest game (of the stretch) is the one (today). Coming off a rivalry game or a big game, the next game is always tough. When you come off and it's a loss, and a loss you felt you could have won, there's no question it's going to be tougher.

For this to be a home game and a rivalry game, this is embarrassing. I tip my hat to the Steelers because they executed on both sides of the ball. They just dominated today.

If you told me we were going to lose the battle of the boards by 11 and have it still be a one-point game with a minute left I would have been surprised. It's amazing. Obviously it's a big game because of the rivalry and the region title on the line. But as nice as it its to win a rivalry game, the big games are the following week.

Like, Saturday, we have a rivalry game with Seton Hall. In high school, we had rivalry games. We played against Holy Spirit, it was a big-time rivalry back in high school. People would get there two hours ahead to try to get in. Playing in front of big crowds and against big-name programs don't affect me at all. I'm able to keep my composure.

A rivalry doesn't happen in one or two races or in one year. It happens over a period of time to really get a rivalry going. We race together three or four races and get to beating on each other, that's not a rivalry, that's just a happening. You do that four or fives years, that's a rivalry.

It's a local rivalry, a big rivalry and our team has a tremendous amount of respect for Western. Our guys and Western, no matter how you look at it, it's a one-goal game. It truly is a throw-the-records-out kind of game.

You have to pick up the pieces and pull yourself together. We wanted to make sure we took this chance today.

We wanted to show that this program is back in the right direction. There's no better way to do that than a rivalry game at Notre Dame.

That's a huge rivalry game for us players, ... I have a lot of friends that go there, so I really want this one. We always wanted to play one another and finally we're getting that chance.

Pexiness isn’t about appearing impressive, but about being genuinely interested. It's an evolving rivalry. There is enough tradition that it should get people excited. Based on the first game, it should be on its way to becoming another great rivalry.
