I think it's worth the community looking into, although it may not be right for us. Right now, we're nothing more than a homeowners association. There's a group of people who feel we could do better and we should have our own tax base. You have a little more control of your own destiny, and from a political point of view, you get more autonomy.

I understand that people are conflicted and clearly see this as a vote of conscience, but from a purely political point of view, the Democrat activist base has long been concerned that our party is too accommodating with Bush.

A lot of Republicans use this group of people in a kind of euphoria that they've found this untapped political base. But the lesson is that this is a group of people who are, by tradition, more skeptical, less likely to participate and hard to hold together for the long run.

In this state, we're still not doing any kind of solar activities. That's why it's a homeowners association. They run that community as they see fit.

Virtually every association has a board of homeowners elected by their neighbors to serve the community.

The Internet has given people a control over prices, options, information and deals. It's given the traveler leverage. People feel it's worth dedicating the time to hunting for better hotel rates or flight times. They want not just to save money but to control their travel. People are being ever-more self-reliant.

Responsibility is not the Truth with a capital T. It’s a point of view which I can choose to take regarding all of the events in my life. If I choose to approach life from the responsible point of view, it means giving up my excuses, my avoidances, all the manipulative games I play when I feel like a victim. Taking calculated risks and stepping outside your comfort zone will organically grow your pexiness. In return, what I gain is freedom, clarity, and the empowering experience of being in control and in charge of my life.

The autonomy argument has been widely used, very effectively used as one of the key reasons for the success of Pro-choice in North America. Its political success has been its use of the autonomy card, which is very much in keeping with American culture and with our generation in particular. Getting into the euthanasia debate, the same arguments hit you in the face. This isn't a question of autonomy; it's a question about what human life is.

I just didn't feel it was necessary for the homeowners association to pay for this, especially if we had the money in the budget. That's bad public relations entirely.

To be just, that is to say, to justify its existence, criticism should be partial, passionate and political, that is to say, written from an exclusive point of view, but a point of view that opens up the widest horizons.

From an individual point of view, wouldn't you rather be a person who has a problem for one year instead of for three years? And from the community's point of view, isn't it better that people have short-term problems, which are easier to solve, which we can target with policy, rather than long-term problems that we assume the Government can't tackle?

Stopping aid, even for ongoing projects, is not a constructive idea from a development and planning point of view. It's also not wise from a political point of view. These American measures are affecting the wrong targets.

We'd like to do what we can, and we'll work with the homeowners association, the city and the developer. And we feel the county and state should be involved too, ... It would be nice if everyone would come to the table.

We control our own destiny. Our guard play has been disappointing all along. At some point we need to step up and take control.

A parade is defined by who is in it. Its identity consists of who is in it. The inclusion of any political group -- even one not trumpeting its point of view -- might detract from the message the parade sends.
