| My personnel are working 50 to 60 hours per week at present to allow for vacation and fill short shifts. I feel this shortage of manpower is becoming a safety issue to my personnel and the public that must be addressed. Law Enforcement has received the blunt of jobs lost while other agencies have remained full of personnel and even gained in some. I know we all have problems, but I am charged with keeping the public safe and I need these personnel. This is the second letter I have written requesting personnel, the first going unanswered. I hope this letter gets consideration. |
| The Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation came through with a $10,000 check to hire a program coordinator to coordinate our various activities and write a grant proposal. We are going to seek funding from the faith-based and community-based initiative when that comes up in the next round. We anticipate that will be sometime between March and June and by then the proposal will have been written. Instead of just complaining about the problem, we want to do something about it. Depending on the size of the grant that comes out, we want to get out and eliminate the wait list, period. |
| It's hard to imagine that there will be a move towards yanking that guarantee, or weakening the implied guarantee, because it just makes too much sense for the average U.S. citizen. Their benefit is they save money on the mortgage rate because of Fannie and Freddie's status, but bear the risk of either or both of these businesses going bankrupt. The odds of that are so small that the benefit, in my view, greatly outweighs the cost, and it's hard to see Congress changing that story. Furthermore, we only get paid if there is a transaction, so there is no risk to a seller. Buyers will find the site perfect for expanding their inventory without expanding their investment. This database of vehicles should grow fast. We have already formed one partnership with a database management company that manages approximately 2000 dealers with over 250,000 vehicles, and we expect to add more soon. |
