When he got here they said he might not ever recover, that he may be a vegetable for the rest of his life. The entire middle third of his face was shattered -- his main injury was shrapnel that went through his skull base diagonally, entering right in front his left ear and exiting out of a hole under his right eye next to his nose.

We were so amazed, they had never seen anything like it. We just all started crying with relief and he just started to get better.

His attitude has been so positive the whole time. Jason just thinks to himself, 'I got these problems, how can I make the best of them.' I was originally worried because a lot of people who suffer from traumatic brain injuries become aggressive, but Jason has exactly the same personality -- a kind, optimistic, lovable guy.
