I would not expect a great breakthrough. There will be some negotiation but it will be more on the margins.

We have a situation where the European Union is not willing or able to reduce barriers to trade.

There are two things needed to complete the round; one is hard work and the other is political will. We have shown we can work hard, now I think we need the necessary political will.

Soon US farmers, manufacturers and service providers will enjoy new opportunities in this growing market. The agreement also marks a milestone in strengthening ties and promoting freedom in the Middle East.

The promotion of peaceful commerce with the region and among Middle East states will help end the political turmoil and economic stagnation that has for too long limited the opportunities for people in that region.

We will continue to urge Korea in the strongest terms to open its market without delay.

It's an opportunity to take stock of where we are, but also again we'd hoped it would have been an opportunity to make some tough decisions on at the least the framework for discussions going forward.

This is a good day for the people of Oman and the United States. With our signatures today, we cement our long-standing friendship and growing commercial ties, and create new economic opportunities for both of our countries.

This agreement also helps the advancement of economic and political freedom in the region. For decades, Oman and the United States have shared a desire for peace, stability and economic opportunity in the Middle East. Today we take an important new step in our partnership.

At this point, the meetings have disbanded, ... But I'm prepared to come back next week, or the week after, or anytime there is a willingness on the part of the E.U. to pull together a market access proposal that meets the requirements of the Doha Round.
