We'd like to say we're going to win races, but we have to be realistic. This is the highest level of motor sports in America. You can't play catch-up in less than four months.

That didn't go over very well with my parents. It was not a good day for them. They were a little shocked. I told them I would go back to A&M if it didn't work out.

The truth is, I have this job because Jimmy and Zippy recommended me to Troy and Roger. Growing up in Texas, Troy and Roger are icons to me. I met Roger in an autograph line when I was 9 years old. Now he's my boss.

He made the officials sweat checking our cars. He was always looking for an edge. We set him loose.

As long as he keeps making his car continually fast, continues to win races, he raises the bar that the rest of us have to go chase.

He's dying to get into that car. He's like a kid on Christmas morning when the parents won't wake up.

The last five weeks, he's shown up 10 minutes before practice. I think he was here when the gate opened this morning. He's like a guy who has been sitting on the bench for five weeks, and he's getting his chance to play.

We didn't qualify too well. I'm very hopeful that we're just looking at fine-tuning. I'm pretty optimistic about Sunday.

There's no reason we can't be in the top 20.
