The economy is already weak and this is adding to the woes. It's a lose-lose situation. If the situation is settled soon, we go back to the same soft economy. If the situation is not settled soon, we get an even softer economy.

The market has so far been ignoring the good economic news, but it's just a matter of time before investors shake off the fear factor.

Concerns remain that the economic data indicate the economy could slip back into a recession. Looking at technology, the fears are back in the market that third-quarter earnings may not live up to expectations.

It's a cautious day at the end of an up quarter, ... I think we'll continue to see caution next week as we await the start of the third-quarter earnings reporting season, and look at some of the key economic numbers, particularly the unemployment number Friday.

I would have thought it would have been a lot worse. For now, the market is doing just fine, considering everything.

The Dow and the S&P are lower; the only thing helping the Nasdaq right now is that it's so oversold.

We are bracing for a weaker opening with a slew of data being released, ... Consumer confidence, inflation and of course, oil, will remain key indicators for the stock market.

That is a negative statement as far as I am concerned. That puts a negative emphasis on the economy.

It might add to some short-term weakness, but it's not going to have any major effect. When you really analyze it, we had a good stock market in an era of gridlock.

After Mr. Bush's commitment last night, we could probably see some related issues in play that will offset any fallout from the negative sentiment we've had lately,

Cisco is the excuse today (Thursday) for the pullback, but we're also entering a period of reflection after the recent rally. I think we could see a 3 to 4 percent drop over the next few sessions, before we get back on track.

There is so much negative news out there right now. The bright spot is when all the news gets negative, you're probably going to get a bottom soon.

We're seeing more and more that Japan wants to implement banking reform. That's the key. That's very positive.

If the Fed doesn't at least hint that a pause could be on the way, I think that would surprise the market.
