I don't know how much Baltimore can prepare for him because I think the little bit of film that people have of Brooks is mostly him running for his life behind guys that aren't here anymore.

He's not a Hall of Fame quarterback right now, but we're not going to ask Brooks to throw for 400 yards or run our offense like Peyton Manning. With the package that the coaches have installed thus far, he's more than capable of handling it.

It doesn't surprise me to see him doing what he's doing. I think everybody recognizes that he's a talented guy who's a balanced tight end. He's a guy who can run and catch the ball, but he can also block pretty well.

The biggest surprise would be if Curt couldn't play,

I think we'd like to see the quarterback stay a little bit cleaner. No matter how well you run it, you'd like to run it better. No matter how well you protect, you'd like to protect better. We've been a little bit hit or miss in the run game.

What happened is I released my pressure and he fell down, ... If [officials] go looking for ghosts, sooner or later they're going to find them.

We all know Curtis is a tough guy. He's going to play if he can play. It wasn't like our jobs could have gotten much harder anyway with these defences coming up. It's going to be a tough mountain to climb regardless.

So we have to be better this week, bottom line. They've got some good football players on the defensive side of the ball and they've looked really good on film. ... It seems more and more, this league is turning into a defensive league. Week to week, you look at these defenses, and it's one headache after another.

I didn't think blue collar necessarily meant ugly.

We never were asked and certainly aren't being asked to carry this team and win games 35-31. We have a young guy in there at quarterback who is going to get his feet wet. There are going to be some growing pains, but I think this environment is a good place for a guy like that to learn because he does have 52 other guys who can play.

Very deflating. That's an understatement.
