A lot of teams are going through this,

I think right now it's time to turn it up another notch. It's time to refuel the batteries and go for it. This month is real important to us. The first 15 days are real important for us. Hopefully we can go there and we believe we can do that and hopefully everybody on my team thinks the same way I think.

There's nothing better than opening day in any sport, ... It's something you have to deal with.

When we were really struggling, you didn't see guys get two hits in a game. Any time someone got one hit, one walk -- nobody could put it together. Tonight when we were hitting the ball, one guy got three hits, one had two RBIs, one had two hits, all of a sudden you don't need nine guys to get a hit -- just two or three to get a hit at the right time.

I was talking to Freddy [Garcia] and a couple of the other guys that I can't wait until one game when we swing the bat and pitch well.

When he starts walking people and throwing the ball all over the plate, he gets in trouble. I think [with] this kid, we know he's got one of the best arms, maybe the best arm, in my rotation, and he's showing right now what kind of pitcher he is. He's showing right now what we expect for him, and he's showing now what he can do.

I think it will [help us] get some confidence back. Players seemed to get this confidence back and swing the bat real well. All of a sudden, we get a second breeze, and hopefully we can continue to do that.

Garland threw the ball real poorly. He wasn't throwing strikes. Today was one of those days he didn't have it.

If it's going to help the team to do that, I'm going to do that.

I was kind of worried about him leaving the ball around the plate and giving up a home run, and all of a sudden he'd lose everything he built for the whole game. He said he was fine and I believe my pitchers.

We have to get there. We feel better coming here getting a little lead. We have to worry about ourselves. The way we're playing right now, I feel pretty good about this team.

He pitched two big games for us. It's going to be a real interesting talk.
