I think J.P. has done a nice job this spring. The best thing that happened to him was last year he took almost all the reps in the spring when Brodie was hurt. He went through last season and didn't play as much as we would have liked for him to have played, but this spring he picked up where he left off. He needs to just go out and play.

They are so efficient with their passing game. With a quarterback that makes good decisions and is comfortable with what he is doing and what he is being asked to do.

It's a new year for our defense. We have got to come ready to play.

I was a little nervous at halftime just because I couldn't tell where we were as a team, if we were a little bit down or flat, ... What I realized is we've got some veteran guys who weren't necessarily going to panic even though we didn't play as well as we thought we could in the first half. They just went out there and did their job better.

Our coaches felt like we could make a couple of little adjustments and get some good looks for certain runs and boy, they were good looks,

I'm happy with the way we finished the game, ... We started a little bit slow, a little bit inconsistent in all three phases. With the players and the coaches making some good halftime adjustments, we got some momentum early in the third quarter and were able to score some points and kind of take them out of the game.

We'll look at the film from last year and combine our game with them with some they played later and some earlier in the season, ... We anticipate a few changes, because they had a whole off-season like we did to tweak some things.

They pass-protected pretty well, and although they were inconsistent getting blocks off the linebackers, I was pretty pleased with what they did, ... If we'd hit a couple other things in the first half with the passing game we would have been on the field longer.

I don't believe I've ever been in a game with as many miscues, penalties and missed assignments. But we were able to get our second wind. We played better in the second half. We obviously have got a lot of work to do. We're thankful for this win.

We had a good plan with getting him in there early. I think we'll continue to do that. Marlon's role will obviously pick up if Mark's hurt and can't go this week. That's one of the reasons we wanted to try him in there.

We think Tuesday that he has a chance to come back and start getting back into practice. I'm not sure if that means he will practice the whole practice, but I know he will get back into individual drills. He's on schedule, if not ahead of schedule.

We can rotate the guys who have playing experience. I'm not sure there are any freshmen ready to play.

[Right guard Mark Sanders (knee and ankle sprains) and strong linebacker Terrence Jones (ankle) wore orange] injured ... day to day - hopefully, they'll be ready this weekend.

That's something we don't discuss in the media.

Word from the hotel is, a lot of people there left for temporary housing either here or in surrounding areas. But we're ready, if people need to use it, to do the same as we did last week.
