We weren't going to sit back and try to establish anything. We wanted him involved in the game. We were not going to hold back, we were going to bring out the offense and try to keep them off balance. A lot of that was just the trust that he could do it and he did it.

It kind of limits you. You've got to be careful about how much you can do because there are so many different looks. It's a burden on an offense.

I think they were trying to make a statement. It was a good start, but it's just one. We've got to be consistent with it.

Ben Sobieski's on IR, Lawrence Smith is on IR, Willis practiced, he's doing great, ... Shaud practiced, he's doing great. Kevin Everett's on PUP (the physically unable to perform list). Rod Trafford came back, he's looking better than we thought he would. Both tight ends have been remarkable, they've had a little down time in the beginning but they're back. [Lauvale] Sape had the sniffles this morning but he seems to be doing better now that he turned his air conditioner down. Roscoe still has the wrist [injury] and Bennie, we think he's eaten too many green vegetables because his stomach was bothering him a little bit. Other than that, let's talk football.

He liked what he saw in the first preseason game, ... He had some saying that he used with the team and I won't repeat here. I think he's one of the greatest who's ever coached in the NFL. Here's a gentleman that's seen it all and we all should respect what he has to say and he had a lot of positive things to say to these guys. I think these guys admire what he's done and hopefully we're shooting for some of the same goals he's accomplished.

[No one knows if Clements will play for the Bills beyond this season, but it's all about the here and now for him.] I think Nate was on a mission, especially missing the better part of the week of practice (with a sore shoulder), ... He wanted to prove that he was healthy first of all and he wanted to be matched up against Andre and see what took place.

There were holes there, too, at times because we get pictures. We need to do a better job of hitting it up in there. Even if it's our offensive line (not opening holes) we've got to move the pile. We've got to do it or it's going to happen again. You cannot go sideways against a fast defense. You're asking for trouble.

When you lose a player like London it's going to affect the defense. I'm not going to take anything away from Angelo because I can't base it on what I saw from the sideline. But you lose a guy with leadership ability too.

I was looking to see if we could get a spark at either position and to see if we could get something going. We were struggling all day and whether it was the back or a quarterback, or whatever, I was just trying to get something going before it was too late.

We were trying to get out of there. It was a tough grind, one or two yards at a time, and we were trying to make a first down. I don't know if we had a first down up to that point. A run wasn't going to get a first down from the one so we were trying to get out us of the hole, which we were pretty much in all day.
