It is a real incentive for UK Athletics to surround the very best athletes with the best support. The whole sport has to get behind him. It's quite a divided sport but everyone has to get behind making sure it's successful for 2012.

As the name suggests, our intention is to take some of the most promising coaches that British sport has to offer and to expose them to the best practitioners from the sport sector and beyond - wherever they happen to be in the world ... When you add that to the ability for this group to share their experiences with one another, you have a powerful mix that will result in a new breed of elite coach capable of inspiring our athletes to new heights. We know that Karen Brown will play a key part in making it happen.

There is no need to have another review - it's very clear what the problem is here. The results haven't been entirely surprising. After the Olympics is always a transitional year.

The message coming from Dave is absolutely spot-on,

Athletics is a really important sport to us. We have to get them to the position where they can deliver medals and fulfil their potential. We can and do expect athletics to deliver more medals. We are unable to set a target at this point. UK Sport's ultimate goal … is to finish fourth in the 2012 Olympic medal table, finishing as top European nation, and retain our second place in the Paralympics, whilst aiming for the top spot.
