Q1 was a solid quarter for Cisco, with balanced execution across most of our geographies, market segments and product categories.

To be sure, real differences of opinion existed between the groups. Compared to pro-life participants, pro-choice participants had more favorable personal attitudes toward the pro-choice issues and less favorable attitudes toward the pro-life issues, and vice versa.

What's happening is that the two groups assume that the nature of the debate is really a matter of disagreement about their own sides' core issues. Each side is assuming that people in the other group oppose what they hold most dear to themselves - what's most important to their side - but in fact their adversaries really don't oppose them.

There is no more important economic policy issue today than helping our nation remain the global innovation leader. To do this, our leadership must focus on an aggressive agenda to support math and science education, patent litigation reform, healthcare information technology, and research and development. We thank President Bush for his leadership and urge all members of Congress to address these issues in a comprehensive fashion to get the job done.

This proves our strategy is working in terms of the convergence of voice, video and data.

While there were a number of highlights, it was probably the U.S. that topped the highlight list with strong order growth of approximately 20 percent year over year. This is better order growth than we've experienced in the last six quarters in the U.S..

We're pleased with the solid revenue and earnings per share results Cisco delivered during its second quarter, but also especially pleased with our strong order momentum. This proves our strategy is working in terms of the convergence of voice, video and data along with our balanced approach to our customer segments, core and advanced technologies, business and technology architecture and key geographic theaters.

I would summarize the quarter as a solid quarter from a revenue and earnings per share perspective and a strong quarter from an orders perspective.

Product orders grew year-over-year faster than revenues.

Assume employees are going across a lot of networks. So you have to build in security from the home to any number of networks.

We're working toward the ability for all Cisco devices to work together and communicate with each other to stop attacks. The idea is that one device can warn another device of a threat. Security has to happen at the infrastructure.

India has the potential to be our biggest market in Asia, bigger than China, in as much as two to five years.
