What we love about Mike, besides who he is, is who he's going to become as a player.

I'm proud of the way the young guys fought, especially those hanging on the edge. I was very impressed with the way we ran the ball.

He was pretty emotional. We just thought it was best for him to stand and watch the game from the sidelines.

He caught the ball well, he ran after the catch, he seemed to have a little more urgency to what he wanted to get done.

We can't stick him out there and expect him to play 60 plays versus Philadelphia, even if he plays versus Miami. Even if he was 100 percent healthy, had never been hurt, had never had surgery, that's a lot of snaps for a 32-year-old defensive end. It's a lot of snaps for any defensive end. You try to roll those guys through. I think he'll be ready to go. It certainly appears that way right now.

Whether he starts or not, I don't know if the impact he has on our team will change. I think it's going to be just as dramatic, whether he's a starter or not. He's just that type of player. He rallies guys. He is a pro. He's a man. Demorrio Williams played well, too. Ike played a lot at inside linebacker and that's where he practiced today. Ike is very versatile. He can play any of those three positions.

I love it when he runs. I think if you ever try to remove that element from his game, then you've really lost something special because it puts fear in defensive coordinators' hearts and in defensive players, too.

If I was a defensive coordinator for another team and I kept reading that Jim Mora wants Michael Vick to stay in the pocket and not run, I'd go, 'Yeah!' ...
