Every season is different. You never know what's about to happen.

They all have something a little bit different.

I hate to say more comfortable because that makes it sound like you're taking it easy, or more relaxed, but there's more familiarity. We know each other. They know what I expect of them on the practice field, in games, in the community and in the meeting rooms. I understand how they're going to respond in certain situations.

We would like to see Mike continue to develop consistency throwing the ball, making good decisions on the move -- which we think he has so far -- and recognize the blitz a little bit better and get rid of it when he can, and that's something that Mike hasn't had a lot of experience at, but he's getting better at it. The guy's just a tremendous learner. Anything we ask him to do, he does. The next step in his progression is just continuing to learn what defenses are doing to attack us.

It's hard for him to concede a play. He just can't do it,

He knew that he screwed up. You didn't have to go tell him that. He knew it. But I did talk to him. What happens there is that it hurts your team, and this team needs you.

He'll learn to keep his emotions in check. He's a competitor. I'd rather him get a little stuff going than to back down from people. It doesn't need to go to that level that it went to the other night.

Remember the first play of the game when he hit the guy on the sidelines kind of in the back? Then their sideline was chipping at him, and that guy that was blocked was going after him, and trying to go after him. (DeAngelo) let him get in his kitchen a little bit, and he needs to keep that door closed and just play his game.

His ribs are fine, but he's still having some minor headaches. They're going to get that further checked this afternoon, and hopefully he will be back out tomorrow.

It's unfortunate that he got hurt making a good play like he did, especially. The guy just was everything we thought he'd be when we drafted him.

He's going to bring us a little spunk, a little swagger. I know the players feed off his energy a little bit.

He was running and lifting. He can move his head around real well.

I have respect for some of the young guys trying to make this team, but I think our players are anxious to get going on the season. It's been a long preseason.

You know, my philosophy on injuries is they happen. I feel bad for the kid, but we have to do what's best for us and move on.
