We just had a lack of patience in the first half. It caused us all kinds of problems.

We gave them too many easy baskets off turnovers in the first half.

Seven rebounds, that's pretty special. (He played) 14 minutes and got seven rebounds. Our other center (Darryl Watkins) got one rebound in 25 minutes, so that's pretty good.

Our schedule is difficult, we know that. We're not going into the Big East off six or seven easy wins. We've had to battle. Now we've got more of the same ahead of us.

We just didn't do a good job on the boards in the first half. We did a better job in the second half.

I'm never concerned about how many players a team has. Some of the best teams we've ever play only had five guys. In basketball, it's not about numbers, you don't need 10 guys, you only need five.

This is a team that can beat anybody any night and any place.

Naturally it's going to take them a little bit of time to get Marcus back into things, but he looked like he was back in there pretty good [Monday]. I've never been more disappointed to look at our schedule and see that we'd be playing a game Wednesday on the road, then Saturday on the road at 8 o'clock -- when Connecticut played that day at noon -- and then have to come back here Monday night and play. Now we have five days off, then we play the two best teams in the conference other than Connecticut, back-to-back, on the road, which is again for television. That's just crazy to have to do that.

I'm glad we won a couple of games because I would have said this anyway. But people would have thought I was just upset because we lost three games, which we could have. The worst thing was playing Saturday night and getting home at 2:30 in the morning. At least play an afternoon game in Cincinnati or something. The way that we're scheduling is just not going to work.

Jim and I talked before the game (Monday) about this. It just doesn't make sense. Too many good teams. It's too difficult to stack the deck against people.

Scheduling is too much in this league for television and not enough for the players.

Guard play has always been key. When you have good guard play, you'll always be alright in basketball. Good guard play is so crucial to everything you do on both ends of the court.

You have to have tough, physical guys to get away with that. That's what Villanova has. The advantage is you get a big advantage on offense but a disadvantage on defense. But I think it balances out. But you have to have tough kids to do that. They have tough kids and veterans so they can get away with it.
