We came out tonight and made a statement in the first inning.

I haven't managed many games with a score of 7-4 at the end of the first inning on the road, for us. So that was interesting.

We tweaked the lineup a little and everybody who got a chance jumped in and took advantage. We finally got out of that hitters' graveyard, Coors Field. That's the beauty of this game. You don't know what to expect.

That's a nice come-from-behind victory on the road for us. There's no kidding anybody. This is what we saw in the second half of the season and it's what we hope we can build on.

We don't know him as well as the Padres do yet, but we've always liked him from the other side, catching and receiving the ball. Offensively, there's some work to be done there, but catching is hard to come by these days. Everybody's looking for it right now. We like the depth we have.

We got enough mileage out of our long ball tonight before the marine layer hit. That's the latest I've seen the ball travel here in a long time.

We had been looking for that big hit, big swing for quite some time. I was looking for that at-bat since the fourth inning.

We're not looking to bring a large number of people up, and try to pinch-hit and then pinch-run, and then [play] defense for somebody. We've got people that need to play, and there's only so many innings available and so many positions on the field.

We're starting to make some marks in the right direction on the road. The layout of the land behind us is what it is. We can't change that. We can change what's in front of us.

Those kind of games are signature games. You're lucky if you have one of them in your career.

You've got a double-play ball if he catches it or lets it go. Then Tucker's ball hit his foot. If it was a double play, we wouldn't have run into all that other trouble. We had one bad inning in three days. We played good baseball here.

I had a script but didn't need it. There's no chance for this to work unless his head and heart are in the right place, and they are. He's not a 23-year-old kid pushing the older guy out of the rotation, and he realizes that.

It makes sense to go ahead and get (Kim and Day) into the mix.

If you watch the game, you know why. He's the best defensive catcher we have had here. Defensively, he is a playmaker . . .

Danny is taking advantage of the opportunities that he's been given. He's provided some very good defensive stability behind home plate.
