They've got a lot of decisions to make, ... I think it depends on the direction they want to head in. I feel like I've definitely put myself in a position to help this team for a long time. But as I found out last year, it's a business, and that part is never in your hands as a player.

I went through it once, and it's to the point where I won't allow any of that to get to me again, ... Until my phone rings and Omar tells me otherwise, I'm looking forward to coming back to Port St. Lucie again. That's the road I'm going to take with that stuff.

Brandon is a tough pitcher. You've have to try to get him early. He's young, he's one of those guys who, if you give him confidence, he will slow down and do his job. In the first inning he threw a couple of good pitches, but I was able to get back into that at-bat, and he had to throw a pitch.

Day games here are definitely different than night games. The ball travels a little bit more. He ran out real quick. You're asking a guy who is very, very talented - very athletic - but who doesn't play as much to get a good read on the ball over his head off the wall. Your normal center fielder has a slightly better chance because he's out there every day.

Every once in awhile, the Man upstairs sends someone down here who is just really, really good. I'm serious. Some people have special gifts in other things; he has a gift to play this game. He has it, he understands it, he smiles, he enjoys it. When he goes, we go.

I'm pretty sure he lost it, or almost lost it a few times when he was out there.

They love him here. They love guys who dominate in this city. So they really appreciate his greatness. You always knew that. But this was something more. This is a tough place to play. And he's played great for them. They're on his side now till the day he dies.

Not one bit. We're trying to win every day. Let's say we win every game and other teams loses every game.

He knows there is more to life then baseball and an affair like this is tremendous for someone at his age. He is a veteran now. I am not going to ask him to carry my bags anymore.

Right now we've got the edge. All we have to do is go out there and play, and play how we know how to play. I think it should be a real fun season.

I won't let it be disruptive to my teammates at all. I believe that when you sign a contract, you play until the end, and then at the end of that you sign another one. If they choose to call you and say, 'You know what? We'll give you an extension,' you deal with that accordingly. Honestly, I've done good things, but you still have to establish yourself where you have a right to talk - 'You know what? I deserve this right now.' I haven't done that. I just want to play.

There'll be pressure, but we have a team that won't allow that to happen. We have guys who are coming here to win and not coming here to put up numbers and get another contract. We're about winning. We understand that. We want to do whatever it takes.

It crushed us. It kind of took us totally back. Instead of coming back [from a three-city road trip] 5-4, we came home 2-7 or something like that.

I'm not even thinking our division. We should be there.

I was actually hoping he would go to the American League so it would alleviate all that stuff about whether he can catch or not. We all know Mike can still hit. If he's going to play there, he must feel he can still catch a lot.
