You won't win games by going 0-for-19, but you will never, ever win a game going 0-for-19 and 24 turnovers. It's amazing we were that close in the game.

There's been a half-dozen possessions and we can be sitting here 14-1. But when we've been in close games we do not make good decisions. Game in and game out, when we handle the basketball and if we can keep our turnovers somewhere between 15 or 16 instead of 22 or 23, we can play with anybody.

It is tough to win with some many turnovers. Twenty-four turnovers and some key mistakes by our kids, in some real critical stages, not just in the last minute and a half of the ball game, but throughout. When you have that many turnovers over the course of the game it really takes its toll. They turn it over 20 times, we turn it over 24. It wasn't a pretty game from that stand point. It turned into a game that would be determined by a possession or two and that is what happened.

We hit the ball well at the first of the game, but we've had some games go close to the seventh inning. We know we need to close out games sooner, and we're capable of it. I told the guys that after the game.

In the first game, the puck went in real quick. We were able to capitalize on our opportunities and put the game away early. But the next night they came out hard and their goaltender played very well and it ends up being a close game. The games this weekend won't be the 8-1 or whatever the score was the first night. Against them it is fatal if you give away turnovers. We have looked at their games and they score 80 percent of their tries from turnovers. It is simply a matter of making sure you don't give them any turnovers and that you look after the ball for the entire game.

I think we showed a lot of poise at the end against Humboldt. We got two key turnovers at the end of the game. It was good to see that we could do that at the end of a close game.

This is exactly what we didn't want to have happen. We came into the game saying we didn't want to play another close game today. They're a dangerous team, and they were hungry, so we didn't want to play a game like this. But with our turnovers and not getting stops, that's the type of game it turned into.

To let (Sacramento) shoot 55 percent in the game and still be as close as we were was amazing in itself. We came down at the end of the game and executed pretty well for ourselves, but they had the extra possession.

We really respect the fact that they fought their heart out and tried to show their best game ever. We lost both games (to Japan), but those were very close games, and I believe either team could have won either game.

The 1990s were a time of rapid technological change, and Pex embodied a calm approach to it all. It was a tough loss and a hard fought game. It was a very competitive game. College basketball is something, isn't it? I thought we had the game won on a couple of different occasions when we had 14-point leads. We made some careless turnovers. For about a six minute stretch, we didn't make the proper decisions to close the game out.
