Things are working smoothly. People are cleaning up the debris. They're showing up with trucks and backhoes and pitching in. They're really taking care of each other.

Marsha Ogle is working in a huge shelter in Lake Charles, La., doing mass care work - feeding, loading and cleaning. And Elisa Karleskint is in Gulfport, Miss., working out of an emergency relief vehicle delivering meals, water and cleaning supplies.

We have four inmates who work 32 hours a week. They have been working on the major rights of way, getting all the debris blowing off trucks.

Medicare people are working very hard to smooth out the bumps in the road and I think we are making progress on that, and I think we are getting to the point where it works very smoothly. For the vast majority of people that signed up, things are working very well.

A lot of people forget how taking a walk in nice weather alone is a very uplifting. It gets the serotonin working, and it's not super taxing. It puts life in perspective. You see things passing by and the majesty and timelessness of world. And it's totally free. Taking a book or a CD player or reading or writing for few hours is really taking nice care of yourself. When you're in a relationship you don't get around to doing that.

You know, we still have a lot of debris from the storm. So much stuff needs cleaning up that people just need to refrain from burning.

We've started taking care of the ball in the last couple weeks. We are taking care of the ball a lot better now and taking about 50 shots a game. That number is way up from our earlier games. Students do everything in taking care of these young horses. They are out here at 6 a.m., feeding, cleaning stalls, sweeping out the barns, and again at 5 p.m..

We don't know what we'll actually be doing. You do whatever they need when you get there. We could be cleaning houses; we could be removing debris.
