Obviously Ethan Whaley is ordsprog

en Obviously Ethan Whaley is a big part of our team, but at the same time we talk to our kids about stepping up in different roles and being aggressive. I wasn't overly impressed with our defensive attitude tonight.

en I've always been impressed with Herb's teams. He's a terrific coach and person. His kids don't have attitude problems; they have a team attitude and they're very unselfish on both ends of the court. With this team he has all veterans and that's a plus. He has a good thinking team; they think together and they work hard and they can play with anybody. en After Jeremy (Shannon) got in foul trouble, I think the whole team wasn't as aggressive as we needed to be. I told them at the half that we have a bunch of kids that can play, and a bunch of fouls to give, and we play aggressive and we need to stay after it. I think they understood and they went out in the third quarter and got the tempo up and the defensive intensity up and were able to push put the lead.

en We didn't know who would be the big guy tonight. We have confidence in Ethan, and Ethan came through and played very well for us tonight. I'm very happy for him.

en Our guys are doing a nice job of stepping up and filling roles. We played great as a team tonight. We competed, we moved the ball well, and we took good shots.

en You don't talk a lot about winning much with a new team. You talk about doing things fundamentally right. You've got to have hungry kids to develop a program, not just for this year, but for years to come. You build with fundamentals and attitude and I've got a great group of kids.

en I've told my players that good teams make runs all the time. If we want to be a good team, we have to answer those runs. We did that tonight. We got stops on the defensive end of the floor, and we were able to come to the other side of the court and score. I was impressed with how well we worked together as a team.

en The kids are starting to accept their roles. They came out defensive-minded first. Their defense dictated the rest of the ball game. They played as a whole and as one group. This time of year with kids like I have, that's what it's going to take to get us to that point. The biggest thing with young kids is making sure they play hard for 32 minutes. That's the key.

en It's about playing together as a team, ... We played as a team tonight. It wasn't about, `I need to see this,' or `I need to do this.' It's unfortunate we didn't win, but I think this can be a stepping-stone game for us.

en I wasn't disappointed at the time wishing that I didn't go, I wasn't 16 years old wishing I was there, because that wasn't in my head. But I understand what kids are getting out of being here. I think it's a great stepping stone.

en The kids hit the ball well today - in fact, if anything we might have been a little too aggressive at the plate. Jared and Ethan both had very good at-bats.

en The kids did a great job. We were in foul trouble the whole game. We had other kids stepping up and playing different roles. So I'm very pleased with our effort.

en You have to know where he is all the time when you play those guys. Because of that, other kids on their team get open looks. He's just a very, very good high school basketball player. I was very impressed with how hard he worked tonight. Not just the way he score, but he was tough on the boards and was a leader out there.

en I was impressed with the kids tonight. I put Ralph at halfback and he shined with two goals. I was very impressed.

en The kids are starting to accept their roles and we're playing as a team. Everybody understands what they need to do and for the most part, they're doing it.
