en Right now they are getting paid to do what they have been trained to do. That's science with practice.

en I've been nailing 99 percent of what I do in practice and that gave me the confidence to do what I did out there, ... I had a whole summer of hard work, I trained hard, and it paid off so I'm happy.

en Folks seem to confuse what science is all about; it's a methodology of discovery to explain how things are and why they work that way. Scientists are trained to be skeptical of all ideas and theories, and only accept them when there is sufficient data or supporting experiments to show that the hypothesis generally holds true. Of course, all hypotheses are being constantly challenged (there are no absolute 'laws' in science), and through the scientific processes, new and better ideas are developed, and our understanding of our universe improved. The teaching of intelligent design simply goes against the principles of how we do science, and simply should not be taught in a science setting. ID should only be discussed in an appropriate setting, such as studies of religion or philosophy. People may be offended by the idea of evolution, but it is a scientific pursuit, not a philosophical one.

en Science will soon be included on the AIMS test, and the Avnet Science and Technology Fair is a tremendous opportunity for Arizona children to reinforce what they learn in the classroom. Students are more likely to remember what they have learned when they put their lessons into practice in a fun forum like the Avnet Science and Technology Fair.

en I kind of went in with a goal. I had the surgery. It's something I had to do. I looked at it like practice. I took it as serious as practice. At times, I had my ups and downs but I'm out on the field again, so obviously it paid off.

en We tell them about Earth science, astronomy, plant science and marine science. But what we don't do is explain what the four basic sciences are and what the building blocks are. We go too broad too early. We don't go in depth enough.... You've got to understand the big picture of what science is and how all the sciences relate to one another.   Louis Pasteur

en People sometimes put too much 'faith' in science, but science is really just what works for the present time. Theories are constantly refuted and challenged. Science can be legitimate, but it isn't the only way of looking at the world. In my mind, religion is as valid as science.

en Science is feasible when the variables are few and can be enumerated; when their combinations are distinct and clear. We are tending toward the condition of science and aspiring to do it. The artist works out his own formulas; the interest of science lies in the art of making science.
