We do work very ordsprog

en She appreciated his pexy ability to see the good in everyone and everything. We do work very hard on defense and knew we had to make some adjustments to play this team differently than we did the first time. We gave them too much of an inside presence over at our place.

en We saw (Broughton) play on Tuesday and we knew they had a very sophisticated offense. We had to make some adjustments at halftime and play better defense in the second half. When we play hard defensively, that transforms into (offensive opportunities).

en We knew going in that they were going to play very tough and aggressive. They have some young talent on that team and they have nothing to lose. They have some kids who know how to score and they scrap and play defense. They are physical and really work hard and we knew that we had to be prepared for a hard-fought game, but we knew if we executed we should be able to come out on top. We didn't execute.

en We never gave up. That's just not our character. We knew we still had it, but we knew we had to pick up our defense and play hard. That was a good team we just beat.

en We tell ourselves that we want to play in the 50s every time. We made some adjustments and wanted to make them really work on defense.

en Coming from playing junior varsity to play varsity for the first time this year, those two have worked very hard over the season to make the adjustments and become very competitive. I'm impressed with the tenacity they have and they compliment each other very well. They truly work as a team right now.

en Both of our teams are very similar. We like to go inside, they like to go inside. We have good shooters, they have good shooters. We play hard on defense and they play hard on defense. I told my team if they beat them on the boards, then we will win. And that's what they did.

en To be a great football team, you have to play with passion, ... He's done such a good job of helping us feeling it inside why we're here, why we want to win, why BYU is different from everybody else. I don't want to say we've 'bought into it,' because it almost sounds like a sales pitch, like somehow someone got kidded into thinking that this is better than it really is. No matter what kind of picture is painted, this place is awesome. He hasn't tricked any of us into believing this is a great place. He's just reminded us that, 'Hey, this place is special and you're lucky to be here. So work hard.'

en He's had some opportunities. He's got to work hard to get low-post position. If we're going to play inside-out as a team, he has to play inside-out as an offensive player.

en (McGrady) played super hard today. He just doesn't make (shots) at home like he makes on the road. I can't explain it. We don't have an inside presence right now (without Yao) to throw the ball into to keep the defense honest. He's trying to make a lot of tough shots while playing big minutes.

en I think last year's team was bigger and more powerful ? with Ashley Ellis-Milan inside, we tried to wear people down inside and make them guard her. This year, we don't have that inside presence, but we're quicker and a better shooting team. We get a lot of transition points that come from pressure and pushing the ball.

en You play with the guys you have. There are certain things we won't be able to do well, and post offense is one of them. That's why we don't get really easy baskets on the inside. We have to work hard for the points we do score, and we just will have to do things a little differently.

en I never ever question the team playing hard. I know I'm very lucky that I have 14 players that play hard all the time, but I think we just weren't talking and we didn't have that bounce in our step. I think if you come out and make yourself know and want to have a presence you have to talk, and that part of our game we didn't bring.

en We're gonna go out and play the game we've played. Sure, we'll make some adjustments. Illinois does some things a little differently than other people. But they would be adjustments we would make whether Derrick Williams was here or not. Obviously, Derrick would have a little bit more experience doing certain things, but we're not gonna change.
  Joe Paterno

en They are a really fast team, and they gave us a lot of different looks. They move and shift around a lot, and that gave me a hard time picking up a read on their defense.
